Help Us Build a Bright Future for the Grand Ledge Sun Theatre

The Grand Ledge Sun Theatre has been deeply rooted in the Grand Ledge community for several decades. Over the years, the theatre has hosted countless parties, events, and even more showings of the latest movies. We’ve developed relationships with residents and other local businesses in the community. With all the fun, also comes some normal wear and tear. We could patch-fix the items that need updating, but we started to take a hard look at the potential of the theatre and the space. So we started to dream.

We envision the Grand Ledge Sun Theatre to be more than a place to watch movies. We envision developing the theatre into a space for movies, theatre plays, concerts, and educational events. To do this though, the space needs to be reconfigured, and we need your help.

After the pandemic, the future of the Grand Ledge Sun Theatre was uncertain. The movie industry had dramatically shifted to streaming platforms, changing consumer behavior and how people spent their time and money on entertainment. The local community voiced a strong desire to see the theatre reopen, with countless social media posts and inquiries to Chuck Pantera asking, "When will the theatre reopen?"

Local business owner and Grand Ledge resident, Tim Booth, stepped forward with a plan to keep the theatre in the community, envisioning a blend of movies, theatre, and music to revitalize the space. Now, we need your help to make the necessary improvements to restore the Grand Ledge Sun Theatre and help it shine bright once again!

Ways To DONATE towards Renovations

Renovations are in full swing, and yes, we will remain open during renovations! Our reno crew is actively working on updating everything from the lobby and restrooms to new plush seating and concession stand to lighting, sound system and HVAC upgrades. We’ll also be scrubbing the floors to rid years of spilled pop, melted candy, and sticky buttered popcorn (even though that’s part of the charm!).

With future plans to introduce music, concerts, and even theatre plays, we are also adding new dressing rooms and a new performance stage. We believe in this renovation project and how it will ignite a vibrant community for downtown Grand Ledge.
